Dan
at Home
Dan grew up in
Minnetonka. He graduated from Minnetonka High School,
participating in basketball and baseball, sports that he continued
as a student at Northwestern College. Dan is a dedicated
husband, father, church member and volunteer. Dan and his
wife, Kerry, have been married since 1983, and have three
children: Sarah, Laura, and Sam. All three have attended
school at Chapel Hill Academy in Chanhassen, and two have moved on
to public school in Minnetonka.
In September 1998, Dan
joined the Board of Directors at Chapel Hill Academy. He
says, "Education is so important. I'm humbled, yet
excited at the opportunity to serve the needs of the children and
at the school!" He has been actively involved with his kids'
sport activities, too.
The Plowman family are
active members of Ridgewood Church. Over the years, Dan has
helped out in various ways, such as working with Junior High
youth, serving on the Building and Grounds committee, ushering and
serving on the Transportation committee.
Besides his
involvement in his school and church, Dan has participated in and
sponsored events for charitable causes, such as the NFL Alumni
Charity Classic Golf Tournament, the "Trees for Toys"
program, sponsorship of local athletic teams, and local ministries.
You can't know Dan
without knowing he's an avid golfer. He enjoys golfing with
wife Kerry, friends and clients, and on July 1st, 1998 (a
red-letter day), he got his first-ever hole-in-one!
Dan knows how it feels
to move your family. When the Plowmans moved in September of
1998, their daughter Sarah wrote a poem expressing the emotions we
all experience when starting a new venture. Her poem,
"Moving" appears below:
Moving
The sky
is gray, the sun's not there;
The wind is gently ruffling your hair.
Men are loading, the truck is here;
Right then your house seems very dear.
You walk each room saying "goodbye";
And hoping that you will not cry.
Your mom says "Come on, we gotta go;
There's so much more work to do, you know."
So you get in the car, tears are falling now;
Thinking, "How can I leave this place, how?"
Driving in silence, there's only one thought;
It's about the new house you just bought.
Suddenly, you're there! The neighbors say:
"It's alright, we know how it is, it's O.K."
But you know it's not true & neither is it right;
You can't get your old house out of sight.
Your mom says, "There's un-packing to do;"
And you follow along, feeling quite blue.
Then your mom stops, and gives you a kiss;
And asks "Darlin' now what is it you miss?"
Your story pours out: your house and your friends;
Your mom says: "Friendship never ends."
All at once, you see it with a new light:
Sure, moving's tough, but it'll turn out alright.
